Periodic Pelvic Examination - Cervical cancer
Cervical cancer begins with uncharacteristic changes in the cervical tissues. The risk of developing these abnormal changes has been associated with certain factors, including previous human papilloma virus (HPV) infection , early sexual contact, multiple sexual partners, cigarette smoking and taking oral contraceptive pills. This treatment of cervical cancer is begun at preventing precancerous cells from becoming cancerous cells. The key to preventing invasive cervical cancer is to predict any cell changes early, before they become malignant. Periodic pelvic investigation and Pap smears are the most advised methods for this preventing this type of cancer. Avoidance of human papillomavirus infection is becoming increasingly important in the prevention of precancerous and cancerous changes of the cervix.
